Experimenting with Black and White Photography

Experimenting with Black and White Photography
Thanks for stopping by, enjoy!

One Lonely Tree: Washoe Valley, NV

There is some thing calming about a black and white print. Within minutes it can transport you from the hustle and bustle of the real world into an timeless place with less noise.

Frozen in Time: Bodie, California - Ghost Town

This ghost town in California is one of the most timeless places I have ever visited. The town has been left untouched since it's last resident left in 1943. The history of Bodie is immensely interesting, it was once a thriving mining town.

Fort Churchill, Nevada - Ghost Town

Fort Churchill was part of the Pony Express and was a busy town in another time. The ruins that remain are tucked away in rolling hills.

Tangled Up: Washoe Valley, Nevada

This specific tree caught my eye with the tangled formations among it's trunk. It was beautiful, and extremely interesting to look at.

Fort Churchill, Nevada: Ghost Town

This photo was taking from between wheel spokes looking out towards the town. It was an interesting vantage point before heading down the hill to explore the Ghost Town.

Branches

These branches made me think of a horror movie where tree branches become enchanted and take over an area. They were creepy, yet beautiful.

This is just my start into playing around with black and white photography, but so far I am really enjoying it.

Historical Washington DC

I grew up within 8 miles from Washington DC, yet when I lived there I didn't take as much time visiting the beautiful sites I should have. While home for Christmas, I took a two hour trip down to the National Mall to take some photo's at two of my favorite places on the National Mall, the Lincoln Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial. Here are a few of my shots, I cannot wait to get more the next time I go back East! You can view all photo's from this album and all my others here:
